A trip does not usually start calmly for anyone. Everything must be planned ahead of schedule to make the vacations comfortable. Which documents are required and are they still valid, do they all have the necessary COVID-19 vaccination protection, what outfits should be packed…?
1. Double-check these Important things before daparture
Various factors should be considered and double-checked depending on the vacation destination and duration of the trip. Basic preparations include checking the expiry dates on your identity cards, passports, and EC and credit cards. It’s also a good idea to get international insurance and check the Foreign Office’s entry requirements for the country you’re visiting.
2. Keep Foreign Currency in advance
It is always wise and best for you to keep foreign currency in advance. It can make your arrival in a foreign country more relaxed and should be on your vacation checklist.
3. Prepare your Home for your absence
We recommend turning off the water and heating for the home check. In this way, you save costs and prevent damage. It is also best to check the refrigerator for food that could go expire and empty the trash before you leave. Depending on how long you are traveling, it is worth asking friends to take care of the mailbox and your plants and especially pets(always handover to them)
Note: You can also hire pet and plant sitters (e.g. neighbors, relatives, or friends) for this purpose!
Last but not least don’t forget to close the window in the end. If you take these precautions, you can start your vacation without any fear and stress.
4. Have durable suitcases and travel bags
To avoid unpleasant surprises during your trip, you should also check in advance whether you have satisfactory and, most importantly, not durable suitcases and bags. A suitcase with a broken zipper or a handle that could tear off while carrying or pulling will only cause you trouble. You should also have extra carry-on bags in which you can keep your belongings in any unfortunate situation.
5. Keep yourself up to date with important addresses and contacts
What is usually overlooked is to have important and useful addresses and contacts with you. Useful contacts or addresses can help in the vacation destination or vacation country (e.g. doctors, hospitals, tourist information, police, pharmacies) and make the vacation as stress-free and trouble-free as possible.
