Enjoy a cup of tea in the morning in Chopta trek, as well as the lovely morning with chanting around the mountain, the snow-covered Himalayas, and a deodar forest, all add to the beauty of nature. If you can periodically get lost in the gorgeous Himalayas, taking a break from your hectic schedule will be worthwhile. The Chopta Chandrashila walk is one of those treks that, thanks to its serene and joyful mood, takes you to a different planet. The logical explanation for this is that everything in this area must be spiritually charged and like heaven on earth since here is the “Land of Lord Shiva.”
About the trek :
A stunning 360-degree view of the towering Himalayas and a lush meadow add to the journey’s incredibleness. In the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, the trek is situated at an elevation of 13100 feet above sea level. One can experience this small town’s natural beauty and authentic Uttarakhand traditions while trekking through it. The 5.5 km hike from Chopta to Chandrashila is not too difficult. The distance between Chopta and Tungnath is 4 km, while the distance between Tungnath and Chandrashila is 1.5 km; both trips take an average of 4 hours to complete. Chandrashila is the highest point on the Chopta Chandrashila Trek.
The basecamp for the trek is located in Chopta. It will take about eight hours to travel from Chopta to Basecamp through Tungnath, Chandrashila, and return. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Laxman, Lord Ram’s younger brother, spent years in meditation at Chandrashila after defeating Ravan. Since some people think Chandra Dev (Moon-God) spent time there, this place is known as Chandrashila.
Itinerary :
DAY 1:
In the morning, just after breakfast, go from Rishikesh. Travel the route between Srinagar and Rudraprayag, Ukhimath, and Chopta. Beautiful New Tehri Lake, which stretched out for around 10-15 km, was next on the tour. You won’t get to Chopta trek until after midnight. You can camp in Chopta trek, so get a campsite there instead. Take a break after the busy day to recharge for the following one.
DAY 2:
Waking up to a gorgeous morning with a fresh, chilly breeze, the sun pouring down on glistening water sprinkled across the grass, and a wonderful view of the Himalayas while sipping a cup of tea is an excellent experience. Pack your backpack with the essentials, including a water bottle, some quick snacks like chips, juice, chocolates, and bread, after breakfast. Don’t forget to include Bluetooth speakers as well.
Start your hike at 9 a.m. from Chopta. As the walk traverses through oak, deodar, and rhododendron woodland, wildflowers will be in bloom along its length. Rest amid luxuriant alpine meadows with a spectacular view of the Himalayas after a long journey. You’ll be charmed by the appeal of the meadows and the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayas. Settle down for a moment and grab a quick snack. Savour the peace and harmony by getting closer to nature… Resuming your journey, you’ll cover 4 kilometres in 3 hours and reach Tungnath Temple.
The Tungnath temple is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world, rising 11385 feet above sea level. One of the five kedars is located in the Rudraprayag district. Visit the temple at Tungnath to experience the meditative, Shiva-infused ambiance. Before continuing to Chandrashila peak, 1.5 kilometres from Tungnath and taking about an hour to there, spend some time there.
The alpine meadow crossing requires a 500-meter steep rise. You will have finished the Chopta Chandrashila hike when you are 13100 feet above sea level. The magnificence of the region is embraced by sweeping views of the Himalayan ranges and snow-capped summits including Nanda Ghunti, Kedarnath, Nanda Devi, Mt. Trishul, and Chaukhamba. The temple is located on the peak, and there are numerous stone pyramids arranged in a pyramidal pattern all around it. This stands for zen, harmony, and peace.
Leave for your base camp in Chopta trek at around late midday. You will travel 5.5 kilometres in approximately 2 to 2.5 hours because it will be an inclining portion of the walk. You will arrive at the chopta in the evening. After taking a break, explore some nearby cafés. Sit outside the café during the dark, starry night and take in the clear sky. An ideal location for observing celestial objects and the night sky. Such a stunning sky filled with countless stars is unheard of. You should return to our hotel after eating dinner at the café.
