LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – “This victory is proof that organizing gets the goods!”
That’s part of a Facebook post by the Southern Maryland Democratic Socialists of America after Segall Group Commercial Real Estate quietly updated a listing.
The original plan once considered redeveloping Lord Calvert Mobile Homes and displacing residents, but it seems that’s off the table now.

Lord Calvert residents showed up at several town meetings to share their concerns about the plan. They say, that while this is a victory, the war is far from over.
“Cherry Cove is raising rents, neglecting maintenance, and sending out intimidating surveys. They want to redevelop one way or another,” says the Facebook post.
Cherry Cove is the developer who discussed turning the site into housing back in 2012.
“We will stand by residents of Lord Calvert for every battle to come,” says the Facebook post.
The Southern Maryland Democratic Socialists of America are urging anyone who wants to join the movement to fight for the Calvert Mobile Homes community to send them a message.
