Step 1:
- The first level in this course on how to construct a dinosaur begins at the top! The brontosaurus has a modest, distinguishable head, so we’ll begin with it for this guide.
- Draw the little head shown in the reference image with curved lines.
- If you’re having difficulties grasping the shape, try drawing it with a pencil until you get the feel of it.
Next, draw in the neck:
- The brontosaurus’ neck is likely its most distinguishing feature. Therefore we’ll draw it in for this phase.
- To include this, draw two curving lines down from the head of your dinosaur picture.
- The reference image will demonstrate the length and angle you should strive for in your drawing.
Draw the back of the dinosaur:
- After you’ve finished designing the dinosaur’s head and neck, you can add a back!
- This stage will be straightforward since you can create a back for the dinosaur by drawing a line that bends up and down, as illustrated.
Finally, draw in the tail:
- As you can see, your dinosaur is taking shape! During this phase, we’ll add a fantastic long tail to your dinosaur drawing.
- To do so, draw a long line that curves in on itself at the end, as shown in the image. Change the angle of the tail to make it appear to be wagging like a dog!
The legs and belly are now added:

- We’ll only add the legs nearest us, and the other two will be added later.
Draw in the final two legs:
- For this shorter stage, additional legs will be added.
- These are simple to add because they only require two curved lines to be drawn below the legs you’ve already drawn so that they appear like the ones in the reference image.
- You may even change the position of your dinosaur’s legs if you want to create a different pose!
- You could even move your dinosaur around to make it look like walking.
