SOLOMONS, Md. — At approximately 4 p.m. on February 19, first responders were called to the scene of the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge for reports that a person had jumped.
Soon after, rescue boats managed to reach the body of the jumper in the water, bringing them to shore according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. They would then be transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
A phone call from one individual to TheBayNet.com said that they were on the bridge at the time the person jumped. That caller claimed to see the person in the water, and said that they appeared alert in the cold water below when they tried to track them.
The condition of the victim has not been confirmed by officials at this time.
This will be the third confirmed jumper of 2022, and the fourth since October of 2021.
The bridge was closed for approximately 40 minutes, and the boat ramp beneath was closed for an extended period of time.
