INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a driver Tuesday afternoon in Indian Head, after their vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned.
Emergency personnel responded to the incident shortly after a 911 call on November 12, 2024, at approximately 4:33 p.m. reported a vehicle crash near Bowman Place on Bicknell Road. When crews arrived, they found an overturned vehicle on its roof with the driver trapped inside.
The severity of the crash prompted responders to pre-launch the Maryland State Police Trooper 2 helicopter. However, EMS personnel pronounced the driver dead at the scene, and the helicopter was subsequently canceled.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the driver pending family notification.
SMECO was notified to repair the damaged pole and downed power lines.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
